Coastal se. Australia;
(1) Ex. se. Queensland (Stanthorpe-Killarney region) and ne. New South Wales inland from the range of Albert's Lyrebird s. and e. along the Great Dividing Range to the Hunter River.
(2) Nc. to ex. s. New South Wales s. and e. along the Great Dividing Range from the Hunter River (Royal National Park, Fitzroy Falls and Dharug National Park near Sidney and the Illawarra Highway at dawn) to the Victoria border e. of Monaro Tablelands.
(3) Australian Capital Territory (Brindabella Range, Tidbinbilla on the Lyrebird Trail), ex. s. New South Wales w. of the Monaro Tablelands, s. to e. Victoria w. to the Melbourne area s. to Dandenong-Strathbogie Ranges and the ne. Coast.
Introduced in s. Tasmania.
