Range

E. Pacific Ocean off sw. United States and nw. Mexico;
Breeds on is. off both coasts of the Baja, Mexico, on San Benito Is. in the Pacific and on is. in the n. Gulf of California (Consag Rock, San Luis Is. and Partida Is.).
Disperses n. to the sw. coast of the United States (s. California n. to San Diego from August to October) and s. off the w. coast of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador. Winters chiefly at sea s. of breeding range and returns to breeding is. in April.
