Nc. w. Pacific Ocean;
Breeds off the Pacific coast of the United States (California off Marin County on Bird Is., Point Reyes, Farallon and Channel Is. off Santa Barbara) and the n. Baja, Mexico (rarely on Los Coronados Is.).
Limited dispersal from the breeding is. to n. California and s. to the c. Baja and w. Mexico.
