Texas e. in the boreal regions of the Adirondacks, New England and perhaps s. in the Appalachian Mountains to e. Tennessee and w. North Carolina.
Winters locally s. in w. and s. Mexico from Jalisco and s. Veracruz s. to Panama, and in mountainous regions of Colombia, nw. Venezuela, e. Ecuador to se. Peru and nw.
