Range

Ce. Pacific Ocean off w. Mexico; C. Pacific Ocean;
Two populations;
(1) Revillagigedo Is. (Clarion, Socorro Is. and, at least formerly San Benedicto Is.) off the s. tip of the Baja, Mexico.
Disperses n. off the w. coast of Baja and e. to Nayarit (December to June) and along the Pacific coast of Mexico s. to El Salvador (January to December) and far offshore to seas just n. of the Galapagos Is.
(2) Hawaiian Is. on Kauai (Makaleha Mountains, Anahola Mountain, possibly near the source of the Hanalei River, in the Haupu Range, above Kahili Mountain Park and in the Waimea Canyon). Can be observed from shore in Kauai at Haena, Kapaa and Makahuena Point. Formerly nested on Hawaii, Maui, Molokai and possibly Oahu. There seems to be disagreement on which islands still support nesting colonies.
Dispersal pattern is largely unknown, but may be into waters surrounding Hawaiian Is.
