Range

Nearly Circumpolar; Sw. Indian Ocean; Ex. sw. Pacific Ocean; Ex. sw. Atlantic Ocean;
Three widely separated populations;
Breeds on is. n. to ca. 35°S in the Bass Strait off Tasmania (Percy, Ile du Golfe, Round Top, Tasman, Flat Witch, Flat and Green Is., Hippolyte Rocks, Big Caroline Rock and West Pyramid) and se. Australia (Percy Is. and Lawrence Rocks, Portland, Victoria) and New Zealand (North and South Islands from Poor Knights s. to Stewart and Snares Is.), Macquarie, Kerguelen. Prince Edward, Crozet (Hog Is.), Marion and St. Paul Is. Falkland Is. (s. end of Beauchene Is.) and South Georgia (Bird Is.).
Limited dispersal remaining mainly in seas adjacent to breeding is.: Namibia, South Africa, Australia (e. South Australia, New South Wales and s. Queensland) and ex. s. Argentina.
