Range

Sw. to n. Pacific Ocean;
Little Barrier and Great Barrier Is. off New Zealand (North Island) and on Codfish Is. (s. South Island near Stewart Is.). Its main feeding areas are e. of North Island between East Cape and Cape Palliser and e. of South Island between 46-47°S and 172-175°E;
Disperses w. into the Tasman Sea (Gascoyne Seamount) and n. through the c. Pacific (June-August) passing the Hawaiian Is. and Kiribati (Phoenix and Line Is.) to the Aleutians, s. Alaska, the w. United States (California), Mexico (Baja), Peru and n. Chile.
