Range

Amazonian South America;
E. of the Andes in Upper Amazonia from e. Colombia, Venezuela and ne. Brazil to e. Ecuador, e. Peru, n. and e. Bolivia.
The Red-fronted Woodpecker predominates in s. and se. Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, Guiana and n. Amazonian Brazil.
