Several isolated populations s. of main range;
(1) Scandinavia e. across n. and c. Russia to ne. Asia (Siberia to Kolyma River).
(2) W. Europe (Alps, Biatowieza Forest on the Poland-Belarus border) to Kuril Is. and n. Japan.
(3) Sw. Siberia and n. Mongolia.
(4) Kamchatka Peninsula.
(5) W. and c. China, Manchuria, ne. Korea and c. to se. Tibet.
